2013 Four Rows Estate Cabernet Franc
These grapes grew at extremely low yields with many days of intense canopy management, and then hand-picked and sorted the fruit at the peak of perfection. After tasting hundreds of blend possibilities, we hit on, the perfect combination of Cabernet Franc, with a judicious amount of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. We then used our finest French, European and American Oak for extended barrel aging over two years, with 30% new oak throughout.
We received permission to shoot the label image in the San Francisco Fire Department's Ladder Shop. San Francisco is the last department in the country to continue hand-crafting their own ladders from the finest wood available.
The wine is in the Loire style, with opulent aromas of raspberry, black pepper, anise, violets, toasty oak and cedar, and rich, supple flavors of black stone fruit, tamarind and pomegranate. The wine has a long-lasting finish of subtle oak vanilla, silkily developed tannins and granite minerality.
